My Future
Today, for the first time in my life, I though about tomorrow.
I mean it… it is quiet difficult to think about tomorrow, but it is necessary from time to time. After all, if I don’t, then who will?
Anyway, to be honest, it was difficult to start up this blog. The while thinking that the idea was a good one, I decided to tell about my upcoming plan to one of my lecturers at the University of Salford. Probably at that moment she was thinking about the same (she was actually, as after that discussion we started to write an assignment about blogs) and her reply was – “You need to have a blog”. The idea seemed exiting to me, but from the other hand – “who? I?”, I don’t even know how to construct a correct sentence. (you see?) How can I blog? However, as there is nothing impossible, I said to myself – “Albert, you can”.
Then it was the time to work on motivating myself. This is my most favourite part. When people start to do something, firstly they start to think. Things are different in my case – firstly I search for motivation. While others are already in process of planning and are getting ready for the implemention stage, I am then deciding which motivation is the best. Anyway, when I have eventually found the motivation, I complete the task faster and more effective than anyone else. But this is not that important here. So when I began to think about blog, I asked myself – “Why?”. And after a week I found the answer – “and why not?”. I felt that this was a good answer and then my efforts were directed to thinking “how”. And there came my motivation! The answer “why not” in reality meant “Why not to construct a professionally looking web site (Blog) with a good structure, where I will be able to publish everything I prepare studying at the University and all what I am going to think of while having a free time”. This was not the only good answer, but was strongly rational. I gave a call to my friendfrom Armenia and told them I was going to create my second web site (this is the second one as I already have a Home Page). They reacted with a laughter, thus I tried to explain that blogs appreciably differ from old web pages. But believe it or not, it was difficult to explain to the old Internet dinosaurs, who are my friends in reality, the difference between Web1 and Web2. Maybe only academic – but you know that is old, no one ever wants to listen to anything academic. So they just asked me what I wanted and how long they could postpone doing my work. However, I already discovered for me the WordPress, so I just asked for a template for my Blog.
I wrote an email to my friend1 with the following description:
Goal: Design for Weblog – www.wordpress.org
Domain: www.poghosyan.org
Them: eGovernance, Internet Government, Internet Society, Internet Security, Information Technologies, Information Systems, eMarketing, eBusiness (if you need explanations, search on www.wikipedia.org)
Style: Business, Internet, Technology,
Examples: http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/12549.html
http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/12496.html
http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/11665.html
http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/11498.html
As my friend is a clever guy, he never looked at any of the examples and sent me the design after a month. When I opened his email I found a quite “interesting” design in the attachment, but it wasn’t the one I wanted. Oh, I forgot to mention that before that my friend also told me that he ordered a special illustration from Moscow for my design. That sounded nice, especially that it was to be done in Moscow. But when I saw the illustration I asked myself – “why?”. I had already forgotten why I was going to blog or why I didn’t explain him what should be on the illustration. Anyway, it wasn’t the one I wanted.
Despite the fact that the illustration was not the one I needed, it was really a nice one although entitled strangely: “for friendly Armenian financiers”2 . Immediately I told my friend all my remarks and observations. He reacted very calm as always and told me not to worry, that everything was going to be fine and I would get the next design version after one hour. And now I need to address a quite huge praise to my friend. After an hour I received an email with an attachment. He changed everything so fast and so efficient that I was sitting for about 10 minutes open-mouthed with astonishment. It was perfect. I just accepted the design at ones and after two days – here it is.
But this is not the end of the story, probably this is not even the end of the beginning.
Now I will try to explain to you why the Blog is called “eGovernance re4Blog – Life and Governance Systems Circle Imaginations and Thoughts”. To tell you the truth, at first, the blog was entitled – eGovernance weBlog. Why weBlog? Because in the English vocabulary there is no such a word – blog, and “we” because I would like to escape writing the word “my”. Anyway this was not that much interesting so I just tried to change the name and to add something stylish. Nowadays everybody add some numbers to names of projects, so I said the same old motivating phrase to me (why not) and proudly wrote “eGovernance re4Blog”. I created a new type of blogs – research blogs. Yes! I am proud of myself. Research blogs – this is the first research blog. Interesting indeed, but who I am to write an academic research on such a huge area as eGovernance. From that perspective I decided to make the name of blog a little more defined “eGovernance re4Blog – Life and Governance Systems Circle Imaginations and Thoughts”. As my research is going to be on Life Circle, firstly, Governance Systems Circle (this is the hardest part of it) and it will contain Imagination (Fantasies) and thoughts that I am going to reference as far as I analyse anybody’s work. So here it is – a research blog with some elements of fantasy and lot’s of imagination. As the famous phrase goes: “Imagination is more important than knowledge…”3
Wow, I wrote a lot of text for the first post. Strange though, as I was worrying about what was going to be written as my first entry. Well, it was easy.
So, go on. Try to read something else… If you find, of course.
Best
